History House
Number 133 Macquarie Street, Sydney, the home of the Royal Australian
Historical Society and now known as History House was designed
in 1871. It is one of Sydney's few surviving Victorian upper
middle-class town houses and retains its elaborate cedar joinery,
plaster work, parquetry and marble fireplaces. It is located
in the heart of Sydney's central business district and is opposite
the Botanic Gardens, a popular wedding venue.
The Reception Rooms on the ground floor are furnished with grand
piano and antique furniture and offer a charming atmosphere ideal
for functions of up to 60 guests. There is an adjoining kitchen.
The auditorium, also on the ground floor, has seating for 70
people and is equipped with overhead and slide projectors, a
video with 53cm monitor and PA system.
